POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title: Inside Sales Representative                            Job Code:       Exempt

Job Summary: Perform inside sales functions and provide technical support to current and potential customers over the phone and in person.  Implement sales support projects as needed.  Provide sales support to outside sales representatives.  Manage internal order processes including, but not limited to quoting, writing orders, writing change orders and managing the approval process.    

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 
K:        Four-year high school education or equivalent required.  Associate degree preferred.  In addition, must have two years experience in customer service or sales, with knowledge of grain handling systems preferred.  Valid driver’s license required.

 

S:         Analytical skills to include rate analysis and bill evaluation

Responsibilities & Duties:

1.      Quote grain handling equipment and projects.

2.      Provide general sales support to outside sales staff.

3.      Perform tasks such as data entry, monitor production schedule, inventory tracking, and writing and sending correspondence

4.      Work with customers to provide sales support and customer service over the phone and in person.  Promote and explain products to businesses and handle pricing questions.  

5.      Assist sales staff in professionally responding to current and potential customer inquiries.

6.      Assist with trade show set-up and staffing as needed.

7.      Provide technical support.

8.      Continually enhance knowledge of Union Iron Works products and services in order to provide quality sales support and respond to customer requests.

Physical/Visual/Mental Demands:

Position requires the ability to react to fast pace tasks; move and lift objects of 25 pounds; requires moderate amount of sitting; requires use of office equipment including personal computer, fax and copy machine, telephone and calculator; must be able to verbally and in writing converse with other individuals; must be able to travel and drive an automobile.

 

Typical Working Conditions:

Person in this position will travel to customer’s location occasionally; works in an inside office environment alone as well as with others with limited supervision; will have frequent contact with customers as well as other employees; normal work hours are Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.; weeknight and weekend overtime hours may be required on occasion.

Nature of Supervision Received:

Works under direction of the Sales Manager.  Works independently within authority limits and experience level.  May direct the work of others when necessary to achieve completion of a project. Requires individual initiative in recognition and research of customer’s needs and problems.

 

Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made:

Requires the ability to comprehend and evaluate facts and arrive at a decision consistent with company standards and procedures.  Must be thorough and accurate in relaying information to customers.  Decisions are required as to which procedures are applicable to a given situation and how best to obtain results consistent with company practice.

 

Financial Responsibility:

Excellent customer skills in providing information ensuring extraordinary customer service.  A high degree of care and attention is needed to prevent loss of business that could occur if customers are not handled in a courteous and tactful manner.  Significant losses could occur if quotes are not completed properly.

 

Responsibilities for Business Contacts:

Has extensive contact with customers as well as all employees.  Tact, discretion and resourcefulness will result in maintaining successful relationships and will enhance the opportunity to grow.

 

Confidentiality:

Must be extremely confidential in working with all company and customer information and documents.
